GA4 setup: seeing what actually brings in customers

Every ad platform flatters itself. GA4 is an independent data source that shows what a lead actually costs and where the customers who actually buy are coming from.

Can you trust the numbers straight out of the ad dashboard?

A Meta Ads or Google Ads dashboard shows impressions, clicks, and spend — and at first glance that looks like enough to tell whether your advertising is working. In reality those numbers answer one question: how many people saw the ad. They stay silent on what matters most — how many became real customers, and what each lead actually costs. Every platform is motivated to show itself in the best light, so honestly comparing channels using dashboard data alone is impossible — you need an independent tool that sees the whole site, not just its own slice of the funnel. GA4 sits on nearly every website, and in most cases shows nothing useful: by default it only logs pageviews, and a lead, a call, or a message has to be separately marked as a key event. Without that signal, Google Ads' and Meta's own algorithms optimize blind — hunting for people who resemble whoever clicks, not whoever actually buys.

Diagnostics

Signs that GA4 is installed but not working

If you recognise at least two of these, your analytics is currently misleading you more than it's helping you decide.

  • The reports only show pageviews — there are no leads, calls or messages.
  • Every enquiry is lumped into a single "form submitted" number, with no breakdown by type or page.
  • Google Ads shows conversions but GA4 doesn't (or the numbers are off by a wide margin).
  • GA4 data doesn't match the real number of leads in your CRM or inbox.
  • Almost all traffic in the report is "(not set)" or "direct" — UTM tags aren't set up.
  • No one has opened GA4 in months because "nothing in there makes sense".
What's included

What the work covers

Scope is agreed individually after a brief — depending on the package, the work includes:

Audit or setup from scratch

We review existing tracking or build the event and conversion structure from zero around your business.

Google Tag Manager

Container, triggers and variables — so tags and events can be managed without editing code after every change.

Events for key actions

Leads, calls, messenger messages, form submissions — the things that actually affect the business.

Key conversions and verification

We mark the key conversions and verify they fire correctly — no double-counting, no gaps.

Conversion import into ads

We pass conversions to Google Ads and Meta so the algorithms learn from real customers, not clicks.

End-to-end analytics

The full path from ad click to lead to sale is visible, not scattered fragments per channel.

UTM tagging of traffic sources

We bring tags into one consistent system so channels don't blur together or fall into "direct".

Reporting and handover with docs

Plain-language dashboards and a short explanation of what was added and why — no need to learn GA4 yourself.

Packages

Three ways to work

Pricing comes after the brief. The scope of each package is tailored to the project and its needs.

Analytics audit

For those who already have analytics but suspect it isn't working.

  • A check of GA4 and Google Tag Manager
  • Whether leads and calls fire as key events
  • Whether conversions reach the ad platforms
  • A list of issues and a fix plan
  • A walkthrough of the findings by voice or call

End-to-end analytics

For those running several ad channels who need to know which one actually brings in customers.

  • Everything from the base setup
  • Conversion import into Google Ads and Meta
  • A link to your CRM, forms and telephony (where available)
  • An attribution model and a channel report
  • A dashboard built around your metrics

Process

How we work

A transparent process with no surprises at any stage.

01

Brief

We map out the business, the funnel, and which actions on the site count as valuable.

02

Measurement plan

We fix the list of events and key conversions before configuring anything.

03

Setup

GA4 and Google Tag Manager, events for key actions, marked key conversions.

04

Import into ads

We pass conversions to Google Ads and Meta and set up UTM tagging of sources.

05

Accuracy check

We reconcile GA4 data against real leads — so the numbers can be trusted.

06

Handover

The access stays with you, with a short doc on what was added and why.

What you get at the end

Working analytics, verified for data accuracy, and a clear explanation of exactly what was added and why. The setup is tailored to the project and its needs — not a generic template.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need GA4 if I already have stats in Meta and Google Ads dashboards?

Each dashboard only shows its own slice of the picture and is always inclined to flatter its own performance. GA4 is an independent source that checks this data against what's actually happening on your site and in sales, and lets you compare channels honestly.

I already have GA4 — why do I still need a setup?

GA4 out of the box only logs pageviews. If leads, calls and messages aren't marked as key events, the reports show nothing useful and the ad algorithms optimize blind. The setup is exactly what adds those signals and verifies they're correct.

How long does the setup take?

Usually 1–3 business days from the moment work is agreed — from installing the tags to verifying that every event and conversion fires correctly.

Do you work through Google Tag Manager?

Yes. Google Tag Manager is the standard way to manage tags and events without editing the site's code after every change. If there's no container yet we create and configure it; if there is one, we tidy it up.

Will I see which ad channel brings in customers?

Yes, that's the point of end-to-end analytics: matching spend per channel against real leads and sales so you can see the cost per lead and each source's contribution, instead of separate numbers in each dashboard.

Do I need e-commerce tracking if I don't sell products online?

The e-commerce module can be adapted to any valuable action — a lead, a call, booking a consultation — not just a cart purchase.

What do I get at the end?

Working analytics, verified for data accuracy, and a clear explanation of exactly what was added and why. All accounts are registered to you — the access stays with you.

Which CRMs can you connect analytics to?

Most often NetHunt, KeyCRM, Pipedrive, HubSpot or Zoho — systems with an open API you can pass lead data and deal statuses into. If you use a different CRM, we'll check integration options during the brief.
