Black Friday 2026: launch your ads now, not on November 27

Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, and Cyber Monday on November 30. For shoppers it stopped being a single day long ago. In Ukraine in 2025, electronics chains ran a whole "Black Friday week," and some brands stretched discounts across all of November. People start searching, comparing and saving products earlier than most stores switch their ads on.

So the key question for a business owner right now isn't "what discount should we give," but "will our ads have time to work by the moment customers are ready to pay."

What happens to advertising in November

The money really is there. According to Meest, on Black Friday 2024 the number of orders in Ukrainian online stores grew noticeably compared with 2023: electronics by 48%, beauty and health by 67%, sports goods by 150%.

But every one of your competitors is chasing the same buyers on the same days. Ad platforms sell impressions through an auction, so when there are more advertisers, each impression costs more. We covered why ads get pricier in the fall in our article on rising ad costs. In November this effect is at its strongest all year.

Why launching "on Friday morning" almost always loses

The first reason is learning. Ads on Instagram, Facebook and Google don't start bringing buyers in the first hour. For the first week or two the system learns who exactly to show your ads to. Launch a campaign on November 27 and the learning ends after the sale is over, while the budget goes to the most expensive impressions of the year.

The second reason is the warm audience. Most people who will buy from you on Black Friday have already seen your store: they visited the website, browsed your Instagram, sent you a message. If your ads weren't running before November and nobody "remembered" these people, there's no way to remind them about the discount on the right day. We explained how this works in our piece on visitors who left without converting.

The third reason is sales tracking. If the ad account doesn't see inquiries or purchases correctly, it optimizes blindly during the most expensive week of the year. The report can show great numbers while the till doesn't. More on that in what a lead really costs without analytics.

Even the ad platforms admit that sales are a special mode. Google has a dedicated tool for short promotions of 1–7 days, but Google itself advises turning it on only when you expect a sharp jump in sales, because otherwise it can throw bids off. In other words, even the "special button for sales" requires knowing when to press it.

Signs your business isn't ready yet

If two or three of these sound familiar, your November budget risks going to expensive impressions rather than sales.

Why this can't be done in one evening

Getting ready for Black Friday means several tasks running in parallel. Splitting the budget across the weeks before the sale, the sale days themselves and the period after. Launching ads early that gather interested people. Preparing ads for different formats: the feed, Stories, Google search. Checking that every sale lands in analytics correctly. And during the sale, watching the cost per sale every day and moving money to where it pays off.

This isn't only about online stores. Salons, clinics, courses and services also sell in November, gift certificates before the holidays for example, and they face the same expensive impressions.

A mistake at any stage costs money exactly when every ad dollar is most expensive. That's why preparation is best started in October or early November and handed to people who run Facebook and Instagram ads and Google Ads every day. The earlier you start, the more time the algorithms have to learn before November 27.
